Does the Grass Look Greener On the Other Side?yes. i agree. it is always tempting to feel inadequate, isn't it? this is especially so, when we start comparing. asians are bestest at this, i suppose. achievements, education, earning power, materialistic wealth, exposure, experience... while we try as much as possible to focus on our own plot of land given to us, we often find ourselves looking over our shoulder, yearning for everything our neighbour has.
when you sit down and wonder why you went the path you went, you might start regreting some decisions you've made. and when you're stucked at crossroads, you wish you could see what lies beyond the other end. you look at yourself and take a peep at your friends and you really wonder, they seem to lead happier lives. really? is this really what it is? or is this temptation deceiving?
perhaps the only comforting words are,
God is always fair. you may have fat thighs, but good skin. you may look hunky, but short. God gives you a little, and you miss out a little. you have your share of strengths and weaknesses too. i suppose in our imperfections, we grow to look beyond. as i speak, i'm still learning to accept some things given to me which i don't understand.
rule of the thumb,
thou shall not be greedy :)
