social mania
i've been on this frenzy mode of meeting many people and talking till jaw drop. i counted and realised i could talk to at least 20 people for 15 minutes a day. i'd yack away from morning all the way to lunch and back home and i would not feel tired until i hit the sack every night.

i realised that talking has become a way of life, or rather, a form of social fellowship which cannot stop for a minute in my life. whether email, msn, phone, face2face, i want to feel im in touch with people around me. perhaps that's my way of defining who i am and the environment in which i am in.

i used to break records. if there was a Guiness World Record for Longest Phone Conversation, i'll grab the award. perhaps over the years, i've grown to realise that not everyone out there likes to be a listener. in fact, it's a skill to truly listen, to show empathy and to give affirmation. and i suppose i've learnt that it isn't too good to be always yacking away. it's just nice sometimes to be in the quiet and to appreciate silence. very nice indeed! :)

are you ready for CNY?
Chinese New Year is coming. so much washing and cleaning up to do. bought new curtains for my room. mum says that it's time for a new change. and i thought i should change my sheets and pillow too. aussino's having a sale. might pop by later to look around for new sheets for the New Year.

for the first time this year, im not that keen on the coming holidays. my closest cousins won't be visiting. my dearest darlin' isn't in town. and CNY gathering becomes less exciting too. collecting angpaos is no longer something i look forward to. perhaps it's a good time to take a break from work... 4 working days. woohoo!

any hopes for the new year?

YES. more bonuses! more rest! more job fulfilment!

Louis Vuitton

i laughed so hard as i read kk's blog entry. he got his gf a LV namecard holder and he felt his tear rolled down his cheek upon taking his credit card to pay for it. next thing he said to his gf:

"Okay now you got the LV, don't care you must marry me now". Something hard hit me (I think it was her Coach bag) on my head, and I forgot everything I said. Yeah right.

lol. what a way to propose!

interestingly, adr and i walked past LV shop in Paris on xmas day too. my bf should be thankful that i ain't a LV bag craver, or perhaps, not into materialistic stuff. shopping isn't a necessity, it is just entertainment to keep me occupied on days when i feel superbly bored. not that money isn't a major factor to consider, but i suppose it is about looking for the right apparel that meets the eye.

on SS Great Britain 02.01.08
SS Great Britain
the weather was pretty chilly yesterday, but we still made our way to visit the SS Great Britain, a ship museum in Bristol. this ship designed by I. K. Brunnel, was launched on July 19th, 1843. SS Great Britain was the first ocean going, propeller-driven, iron ship in history. in its working life, it served as a luxury liner, an emigrant ship, a troop ship, a cargo vessel and a storage warehouse for over a century. this ship was abandoned for years before being towed back to Bristol and now being restored to her original 1843 appearance.

this visit was refreshing, a close encounter with heritage conservation, historical artefacts and oral history. it was interesting to be able to choose the audio recordings of the various classifications (first class, third class, sinbad the cat & marine conservator). we listened to audio recordings as we maneuvered around the ship. fun! i learnt another lesson in history.

Mamma Mia
they say that it would be a waste if you made your way to Europe without watching a musical in the theatre. and yeah, i fulfilled yet another dream today! Mamma Mia is on its international tour around the world - and it's stopping over at bristol till 3rd Feb. it's extremely wonderful, with all the greatest abba's hits featured in this musical. you should watch it if it comes by your way some time... :p
