6 Tips to Starting New Job with Confidence
i was browsing Women's Weekly and naturally, the title caught my eye. really should heed the following tips:

1. Take time out... have a few days off before assuming your new role. this gives you enough time to separate yourself from your previous workplace and coworkers. (i've got only 2 days of weekend to spend!? is the resting time enuf?)

2. Do your research... surf the net and learn about the company's philosophies. if you have friends who know someone there, get introduced before your first day. (okay.. i think i better do this, or i'd look like a mountain turtle on my first day of work.)

3. Wear your best... start off with your most conservative outfits before slowly adjusting your wardrobe to what's appropriate. (im already thinking about this one...)

4. Be punctual... turn up late and you'll leave a lasting bad impression. (sigh. have to wake up extra early! leave the house 1.5 hrs before reporting time?)

5. Walk in smiling... enter with a smile and make eye contact. introduce yourself and don't feel shy to ask questions. (:p smile)

6. Be a smart worker... it's okay to use what you've learnt at your old job, but remember that every work place has its own way of doing things. don't rush out the door at your day's end, and remember to keep a positive attitude. (erm.. i shall take note of this)

wow. well said. this reminded me that i'm just 2 weeks from my new job and i've got so much hand-over to do. just today, i spent 2 hours just briefing one of my colleagues on the whole chunk of stuffs and information that i've accumulated for the past 1.5 yrs. i wouldn't say i've done so much so much, but i realised that handing over isn't a simple task at all.

even though i wasn't that excited about the new job a month ago... but as the days draw nearer, i find myself looking forward to a new beginning, a new chapter of my career life and of course, a starting step into my dream job!
